Abstract

This research sheds light on the intentionality of the linguistic root (تبع) in Arabic (taba’) and its derivatives in the Holy Quran. Using this root and its derivatives in the Holy Quran amounts to (167 occasions) most of them in the verbal form, whereas the nominal form appears on six occasions only. The Quran uses those forms in two key notions: good following and bad following. The research is divided according to these two notions, based on several linguistic and exegetical sources.
