Abstract

Concrete is among the most utilized construction materials. Fine aggregate is one of the most crucial elements of concrete. Sylhet sand is frequently utilized as a fine aggregate in the manufacturing of concrete in Bangladesh. Due to a lack of access to the river sand throughout the year, an alternate substance for usage as sand in construction work is required. Recycled brick and concrete dust are two examples of alternatives that can be utilized in construction to partially replace sand. Concrete's compressive strength is determined by its coarse and fine aggregate characteristics. This study aims to examine potential applications for the use of recycled brick and concrete dust as fine aggregates in concrete mixes. In this study, cylindrical concrete specimens have been prepared using Sylhet sand with the replacement of various percentages of recyclable brick and concrete dust as fine aggregates. The concrete mix ratio was 1:1.5:3, and the w/c ratio was kept at 0.5. These specimens were investigated after curing to determine their compressive strength. The concrete's compressive strength was confirmed to be decreasing as a result of the tests when Sylhet sand was replaced with 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% recycled brick and concrete dust.
