Abstract

The current investigation focused on developing and accessing caffeine-infused medicated chewing gum as an innovative oral drug delivery method for heightened cognitive alertness. Caffeine was added to a gum base along with appropriate excipients, and the formulation process was fine-tuned to ensure consistency and appealing organoleptic characteristics. The produced batches (F1–F3) underwent evaluation for physical attributes (weight variation, hardness, adhesion), chemical quality (content uniformity, stability), and in-vitro drug release. All formulations fulfilled pharmacopoeia criteria for weight variation and content uniformity, with caffeine levels ranging from 97.8% to 101.2% of the stated amount. In-vitro release assessments revealed quick drug release, with 65–70% of caffeine being released within 5 minutes and over 90% within 15 minutes of chewing. Stability tests conducted at 30 °C ± 2 °C / 65% RH ± 5% RH over six months showed no significant alterations in physical appearance, hardness, or caffeine content. The findings indicate that caffeine-infused medicated chewing gum provides a convenient, enjoyable, and effective dosage form for quick action, making it a viable alternative to traditional oral caffeine options.
