Abstract

This study investigates the motivation behind enterprises' decisions to enter science parks and develops a model to understand the influencing factors driving such decisions. Science parks serve as innovation ecosystems that provide infrastructure, resources, and networking opportunities to support the growth and development of technology-based enterprises. Drawing on insights from organizational theory, innovation management, and location theory, this research explores the various motivations that prompt enterprises to locate within science parks. Through a combination of literature review, survey analysis, and statistical modeling, this study identifies key factors influencing enterprise decisions, including access to research expertise, collaboration opportunities, access to funding, proximity to universities and research institutions, regulatory support, and networking opportunities. Based on empirical findings, a model is proposed to conceptualize the interrelationships between these factors and their impact on enterprise decisions to enter science parks. The model aims to provide a comprehensive framework for understanding the complex decision-making processes of enterprises in choosing science park locations. By enhancing our understanding of the motivations and influencing factors driving enterprise entry into science parks, this research contributes to the literature on innovation ecosystems, technology clusters, and regional development strategies. The findings have practical implications for policymakers, science park managers, and economic development agencies seeking to attract and retain technology-based enterprises in their regions.
