Abstract

This evaluation affords a comprehensive assessment of the ichthyofaunal range in Northeast India, a vicinity diagnosed as part of the Eastern Himalayas biodiversity hotspot, renowned for its rich aquatic biodiversity. The vicinity has long attracted ichthyologists and taxonomists, resulting in varying estimates of fish species variety. Via synthesizing statistics from previous research, this evaluation documents a total of 55 fish species belonging to eleven families and four orders. The conservation fame of those species has been evaluated based on FishBase and IUCN red listing categories, along with near threatened, vulnerable, least concern, not listed, not evaluated, and not assessed. This compilation affords a baseline for destiny research and conservation planning in the area. Future studies should examine these species' ecological roles in their habitats and how environmental changes affect their populations. Additionally, collaborative efforts among researchers and conservationists will be crucial to implement effective management strategies aimed at preserving this biodiversity.
