Abstract

This research conducts an empirical analysis of international technology spillover networks, focusing on identifying pathways through which knowledge and innovation diffuse across borders. Leveraging patent citation data as a proxy for technological knowledge flows, we employ network analysis techniques to map the global landscape of technology spillovers and examine the patterns of knowledge diffusion among countries and regions. Through a combination of descriptive statistics, network visualization, and path identification algorithms, we uncover the key players, hubs, and pathways facilitating international technology spillovers. Additionally, we investigate the factors influencing the direction, intensity, and effectiveness of spillover channels, including geographical proximity, technological similarity, trade relationships, and institutional linkages. Our findings contribute to a better understanding of the dynamics of knowledge diffusion in the global innovation ecosystem and provide insights for policymakers and practitioners seeking to leverage international collaboration and technology transfer for economic development and innovation enhancement.
