This paper presents a comprehensive model for understanding the long-term relationship between social norms and the adoption of new technologies. Social norms, defined as shared expectations and beliefs within a society, play a crucial role in shaping individuals' attitudes, behaviors, and decisions regarding the adoption and diffusion of innovations. Drawing on theories from sociology, psychology, and technology adoption literature, this research proposes a conceptual framework that examines the dynamic interplay between evolving social norms and the adoption trajectories of new technologies over time. The model incorporates factors such as cultural values, social networks, institutional dynamics, and technological characteristics, which collectively influence the emergence, persistence, and evolution of social norms surrounding technology adoption. Through empirical analysis and simulation studies, the research explores the causal mechanisms and feedback loops underlying the relationship between social norms and technology adoption, identifying key drivers and moderators that shape the long-term trajectories of adoption behaviors. The findings offer insights into the complex dynamics of social influence and technological change, providing implications for policymakers, marketers, and innovators seeking to promote the adoption and diffusion of new technologies in society. By elucidating the long-term relationship between social norms and technology adoption, this research contributes to a deeper understanding of the socio-technical dynamics that drive innovation and societal change.
