Abstract

This research focuses on the examination of the dimensions comprising network competence in new firms and the construction of a conceptual model to elucidate this phenomenon. As new firms emerge and navigate through competitive landscapes, their ability to effectively manage and leverage networks becomes increasingly important for survival and growth. Network competence encompasses a range of capabilities related to building, maintaining, and leveraging relationships with diverse stakeholders such as customers, suppliers, partners, and industry peers. Through a comprehensive literature review and empirical analysis, this study aims to identify the key dimensions of network competence in new firms, including network orchestration, network governance, network resource acquisition, and network learning. Drawing on insights from network theory, resource-based view, and dynamic capabilities perspective, the research proposes a conceptual model that integrates these dimensions and explores their interrelationships. The model aims to provide a holistic understanding of how new firms develop and deploy network competence to enhance their competitive advantage, innovation capabilities, and overall performance. Additionally, the study investigates contextual factors and contingencies that may influence the effectiveness of network competence strategies, such as industry dynamics, market conditions, and firm-specific characteristics. By advancing our understanding of the dimensions and dynamics of network competence in new firms, this research contributes to theory development and offers practical implications for managers and policymakers seeking to foster networking capabilities and enhance the competitiveness of new ventures in dynamic and interconnected business environments.
