Abstract

This research delves into the intricate interplay between industry forces, governance models, and the upgrading process of industry chain clusters. Employing a multidisciplinary approach that integrates insights from industrial organization theory, cluster theory, and governance theory, this study aims to elucidate the mechanisms and dynamics driving the evolution and upgrading of industry chain clusters. Through empirical analysis and case studies spanning diverse industries and geographical regions, this research examines the role of various industry forces, including technological innovation, market demand shifts, and regulatory changes, in shaping the competitive landscape and driving cluster transformation. Furthermore, this study investigates the governance structures and mechanisms employed within industry chain clusters to facilitate coordination, collaboration, and value creation among cluster members. By analyzing the effectiveness of different governance models, such as hierarchical governance, market governance, and network governance, in fostering cluster upgrades, this research offers insights into the governance challenges and opportunities inherent in industry chain clusters. The findings contribute to a deeper understanding of the factors influencing cluster development and offer practical implications for policymakers, industry practitioners, and cluster managers seeking to foster sustainable growth and competitiveness in industry chain clusters.
