Abstract

Cultural studies of science have emerged as a vibrant interdisciplinary field, shedding light on the socio-cultural dimensions of scientific knowledge production, dissemination, and reception. This paper explores the significance of cultural studies of science in contemporary society. Drawing upon insights from sociology, anthropology, history, and science and technology studies (STS), this research investigates how cultural perspectives enrich our understanding of scientific practices, beliefs, and controversies. By examining the cultural contexts within which scientific knowledge is constructed, negotiated, and contested, this study illuminates the complex interplay between science, technology, and society. Furthermore, this paper explores the implications of cultural studies of science for public engagement with science, science education, policy-making, and ethical deliberation. Through empirical analysis and theoretical reflections, this research highlights the transformative potential of cultural studies of science in fostering critical thinking, promoting diversity and inclusivity in scientific discourse, and advancing democratic governance of science and technology. The findings underscore the importance of integrating cultural perspectives into scientific inquiry and decision-making processes to address contemporary societal challenges and promote responsible innovation.
