Abstract

This study investigates the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation (EO) and interfirm knowledge acquisition, with a focus on the moderating role of social capital. Drawing upon theories of entrepreneurship, knowledge management, and social capital, this research examines how firms' entrepreneurial orientation influences their propensity to acquire knowledge from external sources, such as alliances, partnerships, and networks. Moreover, this study explores how social capital, characterized by the quality and extent of relationships with external partners, moderates the relationship between EO and interfirm knowledge acquisition. Through empirical analysis of survey data collected from a sample of firms across diverse industries, this research identifies the mechanisms through which EO and social capital interact to facilitate knowledge acquisition processes. The findings offer insights into the conditions under which firms with high entrepreneurial orientation are better able to leverage social capital for accessing external knowledge resources, enhancing innovation capabilities, and gaining competitive advantage. This study contributes to the literature on entrepreneurship, knowledge management, and social capital by providing empirical evidence and theoretical insights into the complex interplay between EO, social capital, and interfirm knowledge acquisition.
