Abstract

This scientometric study examines research productivity in the field of social sciences in China during the first half of the 20th century. Drawing upon bibliometric data from scholarly publications, this research analyzes the quantity, quality, and impact of social sciences research output during this period. Through quantitative analysis of publication trends, citation patterns, and authorship characteristics, this study aims to identify key contributors, research themes, and disciplinary developments in Chinese social sciences during the early 20th century. Moreover, this research explores the institutional, cultural, and historical factors that shaped social sciences research in China during this period, including political upheavals, educational reforms, and intellectual movements. The findings offer insights into the evolution of social sciences scholarship in China and its contributions to global knowledge production in the early 20th century. This study contributes to the understanding of the historical development of social sciences research in China and provides a foundation for further exploration of its impact on contemporary scholarship and societal development.
