The Participation of the Third Sector: Multiple Modes of Technological Institutional Innovation

This study examines the involvement of the third sector in technological institutional innovation, exploring diverse modes and approaches adopted by non-profit organizations, community groups, and social enterprises. Drawing upon theories of innovation, institutional theory, and social entrepreneurship, this research investigates how the third sector contributes to the development and diffusion of innovative technologies through various mechanisms, such as social innovation, open innovation, collaborative networks, and participatory governance. Through qualitative analysis of case studies and empirical studies, this study identifies different models and strategies employed by third-sector organizations to drive technological institutional change, address societal challenges, and promote inclusive development. Moreover, this research explores the contextual factors and enabling conditions that facilitate or hinder the effectiveness of third-sector engagement in technological innovation and institutional change processes. The findings offer insights into the role of the third sector as a catalyst for innovation and social change, providing implications for policymakers, practitioners, and stakeholders interested in fostering collaborative innovation ecosystems and promoting sustainable development.
