Biochemical and Genetic Characterization of Lactobacillus Plantarum cmgb – 1 Strain Used as Probiotic

In this paper we present a biochemical, genetic characterization and a
molecular improvement method of a lactic acid bacteria strain used as a probiotic. Morphophysiological, biochemical and genetic data confirmed that our strain belongs to the species Lactobacillus plantarum and was introduced in our culture collection under the name CMGB-1. Plasmid profile analysis revealed two distinct DNA molecular species.
