Abstract

Exploring the metaphorical interpretation of D. S.Dadhalkar’s “Wall” is the principal objective of this research paper. “Wall” renders both literal and metaphorical interpretations, but this research paper focuses solely on eliciting the metaphorical interpretation of the text.Metaphor is a process of conceiving one thing inanother term and it is a synthesis yoked with form, meaning and pragmatic function.“Metaphorical Implications of Walls: An Interpretative Prospect of D. S. Dadhalkar’s“Wall”” is an attempt to shed light upon the metaphorical walls like caste, creed, race and linguistic difference, whichthe poet has inferred in his text. However, in his poem,Dadhalkarhas not employed any of these explicit terms to specify the metaphorical walls, but it is evident that the poet has intended to specify these walls implicitly. The axiom of the present research is thatthe poethas inferred all the major social evils which act as manacles in the society, and has decided to dispel them and renovate the society so that the corrupted society is metamorphosed to be the room for renovated hearts and minds.
