This paper examines the functions of Knowledge-Intensive Business Services (KIBS) from a cluster innovation process perspective. Drawing upon insights from innovation management, industrial clusters, and service science, the study explores how KIBS contribute to the innovation processes within industrial clusters. The research investigates the various roles and functions that KIBS play in fostering innovation, knowledge exchange, and value creation within clusters of interconnected firms and organizations. Through a qualitative analysis of case studies and empirical research, the study identifies key functions of KIBS, including knowledge brokerage, technology transfer, collaborative problem-solving, and innovation ecosystem facilitation. Additionally, the research examines the mechanisms through which KIBS interact with other cluster actors, such as firms, research institutions, and government agencies, to support and catalyze innovation activities. By offering insights into the functions of KIBS within the cluster innovation process, this study contributes to advancing understanding of the dynamics and impacts of KIBS in fostering regional innovation and economic development.
