Abstract

In this study, we compared the physico-chemical characteristics of treated water from the influent treatment plant with those of the water supplied to the boilers, assessing their compliance with the quality standards required for reuse in steam production. The following conclusions were drawn:
The physico-chemical properties of the purified water meet the necessary quality standards for reuse as make-up water in steam production circuits.
The implementation of a reverse osmosis system for recovering water from the purification plant is feasible. The treatment results indicate reductions in total dissolved solids (TDS), conductivity, and chloride levels, all of which fall within acceptable limits, demonstrating the effectiveness of this system.
It was observed that variations in the permeate conversion rate did not affect the operating parameters of the module or the quality of the permeate during simulations.
This study illustrates that water reuse not only adheres to regulatory standards but also promotes environmental protection and enhances water consumption efficiency.
