Abstract

Credential verification is a standard procedure in most of the organization to make sure that a candidate stays true to their claimed skillset. However the traditional system that is being followed has a lot of loopholes that can be taken advantage of to produce a counterfeit of a credential. Many organizations fall prey to this very problem of  counterfeiting which results in a diminution. Following the traditional method can often lead to fraud and inefficiency as there is an absence of real-time verification of the credentials presented to an inspector . This paper aims to overcome the challenges posed by the traditional credential verification systems and implement blockchain in a platform that aims to perform a decentralized, trustless and secure verification process for every credential uploaded by a user which in turn promotes interoperability among institutions on a global scale. The said platform leverages the concepts of Blockchain and Interplanetary Filing System(IPFS) which allows the user to store the credential copies in a secure platform. Cryptographic techniques and algorithms are also used in order to add an extra layer of security.
