Abstract

Introduction & Aim- The novel coronavirus (n COV 19) had caused 2000+ deaths very quickly and had infected 80000 humans worldwide as on February 2020. The fatality rate was lower as compared to SARS and MERS. However, mutations in the spike were and are a concern for immune responses. We highlight the case of host immune-response for the future after the pandemic. Various factors and their chemistry described in literature as immune-modulators        for n COV 19 are presented in this paper. This review aims to be a comprehensive, authoritative, critical, and accessible review of general interest to the academic community because it may help mankind in the fight for future variants of n COV 19 and alike viruses.

Methods- Using search engines Google Scholar, and PubMed from 2000 onwards, using keywords coronavirus therapy, vitamins, minerals, exercise, gut micro-biota we  focused on research papers that deliberated upon the bio-chemical mechanisms of COVID-19-related therapies, findings were analyzed. Seven reviews along with 55 of the total abstracts and full papers were analyzed.

Results- The following categories & their agents have proven immune-modulatory potential of  the human host’s response to n COV 19 virus-related disease of COVID 19 –

Dietary supplements

Physical activity, physiotherapy and yoga

Role Gut microbes

A total of 19 agents are described here.

Discussion & Conclusion

Many agents can influence the biochemistry of host-virus interactions for n COV 19. The specificity of the spike (S) glycoprotein and the fact that this virus is enveloped beta virus similar to SARS, given a potential for the use of these immune-modulatory in the prevention and treatment of COVID-19.

The study only checked freely available open-access papers and is not covering all search engines, papers were not rated for their levels of evidence. The aim was to give a focused narration on the immunomodulation possibilities of the host.

The agents described can give an immune-modulatory advantage to humans for n COV 19 produced COVID-19.
