Abstract

This bibliometric research examines the interplay between Artificial Intelligence (AI) and project management in construction by analyzing 337 articles from the Web of Science database (2020–March 2025). The study employs VOS viewer, and Biblioshiny softwares to delineate publishing trends, discipline contributions, prominent authors, geographic distributions, and keyword networks, the thematic maps, and fractional analysis Significant findings indicate the rapid incorporation of AI technology, especially in optimizing project management procedures, improving efficiency, and reducing risks. Civil engineering is the predominant discipline, accounting for 35% of articles, followed by computer science, with sustainability-related keywords increasingly prominent alongside fundamental terms such as "Artificial Intelligence" and "Construction Project Management". The analysis delineates prominent writers, cooperation networks, and China's preeminent role in geographic contributions. This study integrates methodologies from bibliometrics and visual analytics to offer a thorough assessment of the research landscape and prospective avenues for AI-driven innovation in construction management.
