Abstract

Every industry wants to complete the demand of the products in the given timeline. To complete the demand of the products, the machineries must be in the good working condition. Preventive maintenance, autonomous maintenance and condition-based maintenance are used to bring the condition of the deterioration of the machine to normal condition. The condition-based maintenance is used to determine the actual condition of the machine components at regular interval and this is used to make a decision when to go for a preventive maintenance or a corrective maintenance. A mathematical model is developed on the basis of deterioration of the machine components. Similarly, a mathematical model is developed to optimize the total cost which comprises of visual inspection cost, preventive maintenance cost, corrective maintenance cost and downtime cost. This mathematical model is implemented on a  real life case study problem of a sugar crusher. The performance is verified.
