Abstract

Service science has emerged as a vital interdisciplinary field that integrates theories, methodologies, and practices from various disciplines to understand and improve service systems. This paper delves into the conceptual framework of service science, elucidating its theoretical underpinnings, methodological approaches, and practical implications. By synthesizing existing literature and conceptual frameworks, this study offers a comprehensive overview of the multidimensional nature of service science, highlighting its focus on the co-creation of value, service ecosystems, and customer experiences. Furthermore, this paper delineates the research paradigm of service science, elucidating its interdisciplinary nature, collaborative research approaches, and emphasis on empirical investigations in real-world service contexts. Through a forward-looking lens, this study identifies and discusses future topics and trajectories in service science research, including but not limited to the integration of emerging technologies, sustainability considerations, and the evolution of service-dominant logic. By providing a roadmap for future research directions, this paper aims to stimulate scholarly inquiry and foster innovation in the field of service science.
