Abstract

An indirect, mediated genetic transformation of Atropa belladona vitroplants
has been performed using the disarmed Agrobacterium tumefaciens pTi carrying the nptII gene for neomycinephosphotransferase. Its expression into the plant host genome conferred the kanamycin resistance trait which has been easily detected by both in vitro and molecular-genotype (PCR) and phenotype (protein) - assays.
