Abstract

Drawing on theories of polyphony, notably those of Bakhtin, the study aims to analyze the plurality of voices and points of view present in the slogans chanted by protesters during the popular movement of 2019. It sheds light on how these slogans, through their simplicity and force of meaning, helped to challenge the system in place, fostering widespread dissemination and adoption of protest messages. The main aim of this study is to draw out the different forms of polyphony contained in these slogans and to identify polyphonic traces, thus revealing the rich collective discourse and identity dynamics within the popular movement in Algeria.
