Countries are competing to pay more attention to their material heritage and preserve it in partnership with all stakeholders to achieve encouraging results in this field. The state of Algeria's tangible cultural heritage, despite the initiatives and efforts made, is in deep deterioration and perhaps hopelessness because of the difficulties and issues that surround it. As we see and witness, the cases of the loss of ancient cities and desert qsors of many of their components and parts. The efficiency of the preservation of the ancient qsar of Ouargla, one of the most important desert qsors in Algeria, has not improved despite the increased attention it has received, especially after its classification as a national heritage in 1996, and a preserved sector and its delimitation in 2011. This research paper aims to raise the efficiency of the preservation of the ancient qsar of Ouargla by diagnosing the extent of knowledge of heritage values and the application of preservation methods and procedures by the actors to take the right decision to serve the heritage and its inhabitants. Using a qualitative approach supported by NVIVO qualitative data analysis software, an open-ended interview of 15 experts and actors representing Ouargla governorate departments and field observation enabled us to adjust the questions and ask them face-to-face. The results showed a weak Pearson correlation coefficients value for sources of 0.37, while the Pearson correlation coefficients value for nodes was 0.60. This makes us less optimistic about the future of preservation in the ancient qsar of Ouargla, and we are looking forward to improving it.
