Abstract

Health disparities between minority and majority populations in the United States have been extensively documented, with factors such as socioeconomic status, access to healthcare, and cultural beliefs playing significant roles in shaping these disparities. This case study aims to closely examine the social health determinants impacting African American and Latin American populations in the state of Minnesota. Specifically, it explores how various interrelated social, economic, and environmental factors have contributed to the persistent and widespread disparities in health outcomes and access to healthcare services experienced by minority groups within the state of Minnesota. By closely examining the unique challenges, barriers, and social determinants faced by African American and Latina communities, this study provides a comprehensive understanding of the complex interplay between social determinants and health inequities in the state of Minnesota, ultimately informing efforts to address these pressing issues.
